The Ring Girl Series
My dad is quite the gardener, and one day in particular, I was helping
him clean up the back of the garage. There was an old, white, 5 gallon
bucket, my dad would use, to store kitchen wastes in, for later use in his
worm farms. These worm farms would then produce high quality compost
that he would use later as plant food. I went ahead and washed out this
old bucket for him. I held it up to the sun, and the little circle in the
middle of the bottom of the bucket, back lit, along with the soft sepia
tones, the color of stains that wouldn’t wash out, and all the random
scratches, all of which made for a very cool pattern. It became quite
obvious to me - photograph it and use this as a filter over lay,of
compositions of a nude posing with her own circle, a black painted
hoola hoop.
The idea came to me almost as soon as I saw the circle at the bottom
of that old, white, plastic paint bucket, back lit in front of the sun.
It was an idea worth doing. Some of my favorite compositions from
that series are presented here.
